LOCAL housebuilder Barratt Developments Yorkshire East has confirmed the sale of its 200th property under the Help to Buy scheme.

The Government's initiative has seen the company, which has its regional office in Monks Cross, sell 38 homes across York.

The purchases have been made across the Derwenthorpe, Tannery (pictured above), Woodberry and Gateway developments.

The announcement comes as statistics from the Department for Communities and Local Government have been revealed to show that 17,395 properties in England were purchased through the scheme in its first 10 months, with the total value of the loans numbering £600 million.

Paul Hogan, sales director of Barratt Developments PLC Yorkshire East, said: I am very pleased that we have helped more than 200 buyers via the Help To Buy initiative and is testament to the value of the scheme.

"Any help that can be given to people making that all important first step on to or up the property market is vital, and I’m glad we can be a part of that.”
