A NEW business is reporting "brisk" trade after it opened its doors in Selby Business Park.

Selby Self Storage offers lock up facilities to businesses and private individuals.

The firm said its new facility at Selby Business Park has seen "brisk" business from both commercial and personal customers it opened its doors in February.

Owner and managing director Ross Stewart said: “It occurred to me that we didn’t have any storage facilities locally and the business park in Selby seemed a great location to launch. Barclays provided an innovative and flexible funding package for me to expand and the unit provides high end modern self-store facilities that people locally are finding invaluable.”

The firm offers automated self-store units with 24/7 access. It advertises that it can store thousands of pallets for other businesses. It also offers facilities to store documents and stock.

The general public can use its facilities to store general household items for different lengths of time, either because they don't have sufficient room at home, or while renovation or decoration is being carried out.

Mr Ross has worked in the storage and distribution industry for more than 15 years.

Kelvin Smith, senior business banking manager for Barclays Bank, which arranged funding, said: "It’s great to see a local business taking advantage of low interest rates and investing for the future, creating jobs and contributing to the local economy.”

The new unit has created two new jobs. The firm is now planning to expand.
