A YOUNG York businessman has launched his first venture within 50 metres of where he was born in Huntington.

After finishing a masters degree and travelling to India, Aman Dhesi has returned to his home city where he has opened Brockfield Fisheries, in Brockfield Park Drive.

The fish and chip shop, which has created eight jobs and is a joint venture between Mr Dhesi and his brother Gavin, was officially opened yesterday by York actor Berwick Kaler.

Mr Dhesi said: “I came back home and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. This came up and it was a great opportunity to set up in business.

“The shop used to be a greetings card shop, and not only is it around 30 metres from where I was born, but it’s on the same street as the Spar shop my dad used to run.”
