CUTTING red tape, reducing parking charges and improving education in core subjects were all on the agenda as the Prime Minister outlined policies to help small businesses.

David Cameron joined Chancellor George Osborne at the Federation of Small Business’ (FSB) major policy conference in London yesterday.

Simon Williams, North Yorkshire regional FSB chairman, said: “One of the key things the Prime Minister talked about was the local council in his constituency cutting parking charges, which is something North Yorkshire County Council should seriously look at.

“It also became very much apparent that small businesses and schools need to engage with each other to address issues with skill gaps.

“The Prime Minister also talked about addressing the core subjects, as English, maths and science are important in whatever line of work you go into.

“He said the Government is still committed to cutting red tape.”
