FOUR trains an hour will run between York and Manchester from next May when capacity will increase by 30 per cent, says First TransPennine Express.
The firm said it planned to introduce a new electric fleet on the West Coast and then move existing diesel units, which date back to 2006, from West Coast to work across the rest of the network, including York.
Meanwhile, a spcial new rail service between London and York has been announced, allowing riders to travel behind a classic steam locomotive.
Tornado is taking part in the White Rose Express, which was the luxury journey between the cities in post-war England, following the winter maintenance period. The first journey from London King’s Cross will take place on Saturday, April 12, and will run at the maximum permitted speed of 75mph.
