A BUILDING firm which started up during one of the construction industry’s most difficult times has returned to its roots in York as business grows.
Stephen Willows and Matthew Harker registered their firm e-build for trade four years ago as the building industry slumped following the national recession.
Having been set up in Rawcliffe the firm found itself moving to Leeds to work out of serviced offices.
Now, after surviving the worst of the downturn, e-build has returned to York, moving into its own unit in Osbaldwick.
With numerous projects on the go, including work to build 18 houses in Elvington, e-build has grown to employ ten full-time staff as well as providing work for scores of subcontractors.
Camilla Willows, business development manager, said: “It has been a tough first few years for us.
“We had to streamline the business, which was hard, but it has meant we are in a strong position now.
“As well as moving in to our own unit we have been growing our team and have just taken on a new contract manager and site manager as we look for more new site managers,” she said.
“It is great to be back in York and we are working on some really exciting projects.”
