Potash sales deals agreed

SALE agreements have been lined up for 75 per cent of the total amount of potash due to be mined in the first phase of the York Potash project.
Sirius Minerals, the parent company of York Potash, has submitted a planning application to build a £1 billion potash mine at Sneaton, near Whitby, which it promises will create 1,000 direct jobs.
Sirius has been marketing the polyhalite, which it will be extracting from the potash to sell as plant fertiliser. As a result the company has secured sale commitments for one million tonnes of polyhalite every year for ten years from two new Chinese customers.
Total sale commitments now stand at 3.78 million tonnes a year.
