Yorkshire Soap Company opens The Imaginarium in Blake Street

BLAKE Street in York is enjoying 100 per cent retail occupancy thanks the opening of Yorkshire Soap Company’s second venture.
The business, which opened its flagship store in the street last September, has expanded into home and lifestyle wares, creating a new boutique next to its soap shop.
The Imaginarium taken the place of a former dry cleaners, which has stood empty for a number of years.
The Yorkshire Soap Company group is now looking ahead to expand by opening three new stores next year, with Harrogate, Leeds and Whitby earmarked as potential locations.
Yorkshire Soap Company co-founder Warren Booth said: “The response to The Soap Shop was far beyond our wildest dreams, and the income generated from a very busy year in York was used to build and create the Imaginarium next door.
“We realise that to compete with the challenge of online shopping, we need to give shoppers a reason to visit, we think we have created a good mix of shop and theatre within The Imaginarium and the soap shops.”
To tie the two brands together a large glass viewing window had been installed to the rear of the shop, allowing visitors to watch soap being made in the newly-built soap kitchen, due to be open and functioning in 2014.
Next year is also set to see the start of the business’s weekly soap- making classes.
