Delight at potash mine test
11:33am Thursday 19th September 2013 in Business news
THE company behind the York Potash project says it will be extracting some of the thickest and highest quality polyhalite in the world.
Latest testing results by Sirius Minerals show the proposed mine site near Whitby is lying on top of an ore reserve of 250 million tonnes.
With an average grade of 87.8 per cent polyhalite, used for plant fertiliser, in only one per cent of the project area, phase one of the project has been given a timescale of at least 50 years.
The results come the same week that Sirius Minerals announced a request to defer the decision on its planning application until July next year.
