A HUSBAND-and-wife team is celebrating 25 years in charge at York’s Pavilion Hotel.
Andrew and Irene Cossins first opened the doors at the hotel in Fulford in September 1988 after transforming it from a private residence.
They had bought the Georgian house from the John Barry family nine months earlier, and worked together to create an 11-bedroomed hotel.
Over the last quarter of a century the pair have embarked on several expansion projects, with the Pavilion Hotel now boasting 63 rooms.
Mrs Cossins said: “It has been 25 very happy years. We went there when it was a private house and gradually it has got bigger and bigger. The business works well due to the fact that Andrew and I have got very different skills. I’m the hotelier and Andrew looks after the business and the building. We work together as a team.
“We are going from strength to strength, and we have got the best team we have ever had. We couldn’t do it without them.”
