STAFF at York IT services company Trustmarque Solutions have raised £9,219 for York Against Cancer over the past 12 months.
Nominated by account manager Brendan Walsh, York Against Cancer was selected as the company’s focus charity of choice for the year last September.
Mr Walsh said: “I was first introduced to the charity after losing a relative to cancer three years ago. As there is no specific cancer care in York, patients need assistance travelling through to Leeds for treatment. Among other things, these guys provide transport. Plus, it’s a local charity so needs help from local businesses such as ours for funding and support.”
Trustmarque Solutions staff raised the money through a wide range of activities, which included taking part in the the Six Peaks Challenge, the CRN Fight Night as well as baking sales, Christmas hampers and raffles.
In July, Trustmarque entered a team to compete in the York Dragon Boat Race. Despite finishing 21st overall, the Trustmarque Trojans still came home with a trophy by winning the title of Best-Dressed Team for their Roman/Greek-inspired attire.
