Costcutter gets approval for takeover deals
A NUMBER of acquisitions made by York based Costcutter Supermarket Group have been given the all clear by the Office of Fair Trading.
The store giant, which has its headquarters in Dunnington, was awaiting approval from the regulators of the purchase of Mace, Your Store and Supershop brands from Palmer & Harvey McLane.
In April this year the OFT announced it was looking into the deal but has now decided not to refer it to the Competition Commission under the provisions of the Enterprise Act 2002.
Costcutter, which employs more than 600 staff across the country, had said it was confident the deal would be approved, and earlier this month secured a £35 million refinance deal in a bid to aid further growth.
