Flower shop driver delivers his 50,000th bouquet

Glyn Whitaker, 69, has delivered 50,000 bouquets for Wards The Florist
A FLOWER shop van driver has delivered his 50,000th bouquet of flowers, writes Camilla James.
Glyn Whitaker, 69, has worked for Wards The Florist, of Clifford Street, York, for 16 years. He made his milestone delivery to long-standing customer Mandie Chapman, of Sutton-upon-Derwent, who had been sent birthday flowers by her daughter.
Mr Whitaker said: “It’s such an achievement and a fantastic landmark to make my 50,000th delivery in the company’s 110th year of trading.”
Mr Whitaker, of Huntington Road, York, trained as a firefighter and worked as a fire officer at Nestlé for 38 years before becoming a delivery driver.
