Business Rates fear of small firms

MANY small firms doubt they will benefit from the redistribution of monies from supplementary Business Rates under the new Local Government Finance Act, according to research carried out by the Forum of Private Business.
The Act includes provision for an extra levy payable on top of standard business rates which would then be spent on local projects within a particular local authority area.
But well over half of members polled felt the changes would have minimal or no impact on their businesses.
