Plea for businesses to take tax breaks

FLEDGLING businesses in the York area are being urged to take advantages of huge tax breaks to win much-needed investment.
York accountants and business consultants Garbutt & Elliott says help is available from the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme to small-to-medium-sized enterprises which are struggling to obtain finance from the banks.
David Dickson, creative & digital sector partner, said there was a political consensus that private sector growth was one of the most important economic objectives, and this scheme fitted the bill perfectly.
He said: “There are some huge tax breaks to be had and there are a significant number of businesses in the region who would benefit substantially from some investment in this challenging economic climate.
“Here at Garbutt & Elliott, we have a number of clients who want to invest in young businesses and their risk is reduced by the advantageous tax breaks. Now it is up to these businesses to come forward.”
