A RYEDALE nursery has won recognition for its commitment to investing in the future of the business and its staff.
Pickering-based family nursery, RV Roger Ltd, has achieved Investors in People accreditation through Lantra, a Sector Skills Council for land-based and environmental industries.
The nursery was praised for its productive working atmosphere, the varied nature of the work and effective communication at all levels.
Recent improvements include investments in new machinery and building, doubling vegetable plant sales and attracting younger people into the industry.
Lantra works to give companies like RV Roger Ltd access to training and qualifications, allowing them to effectively invest in their employees’ futures.
Managing director Ian Roger worked with Lantra specialist Anne Stockdale to create a plan to ensure that staff have relevant skills, developing new computer systems to increase productivity and attracting new custom by developing a horticulturally-driven retail area.
