THE chairman of York accountants Garbutt & Elliott has been awarded a fellowship of the International Centre for Families in Business (ICFIB).

David Dickson was honoured in recognition of the years he has spent working on behalf of family businesses. He said: “Well-run family businesses are the lifeblood of the British economy, providing clear vision, stability and continuity. They are often the model of good business practice, based on long-term objectives rather than short-term gain.”

Three Garbutt & Elliott partners have completed a two-year post-graduate course in family business at the University of Gloucestershire, run by ICFIB. Yorkshire family business specialists Craig Manson and Jeremy Oliver and managing director Russell Turner were among nine out of the 20-strong course who graduated.
