Businesses in bid to boost East Riding economy
10:26am Monday 4th February 2013 in Business news
MORE than 120 businesses have taken part in an event aimed at boosting the East Yorkshire economy.
The event at Bishop Burton College covered social media and apprenticeships as well as giving training providers the chance to talk about the programmes they offer.
Meanwhile, six young people who are part of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Fast Forward to Apprenticeship scheme pitched themselves as prospective employees.
Speakers included Chris Middleton, principal director of marketing agency Eskimosoup, on social media outlets, and representatives from Grays & Co estate agents on the benefits of employing an apprentice.
Coun Jane Evison, the council’s cabinet member for economic development, said: “It was a huge success in terms of providing businesses with practical advice and help.”
The next event, the third in a series of four, will be at the Spa in Bridlington at 5.30pm on March 12, focusing on tourism.
