Region’s food is put to the test
8:42am Wednesday 9th January 2013 in Business news
THE Pork Product Excellence Awards will celebrate the best of North East food production later this month.
The awards will take place during the BPEX regional roadshow at the Pavilions of Harrogate, on January 30, where a team of judges will put locally made sausages, pies, bacon and other pork products to the test.
Any independent retail butcher or farm shop making their own pork products in the north-east is eligible to enter one or all of the ten product categories and one will be chosen as overall champion for the region.
Keith Fisher, BPEX butchery and product development manager, said: “We’re delighted to embark on our ninth season of butcher roadshows. As well as rewarding butchers whose pork products stand out in terms of quality, excellence and innovation, it gives local businesses a chance to network and browse trade stands.
