Sweeping changes reaps benefits for cleaning company

COASTAL business Simplicity Holidays has increased customer numbers following support from Leeds, York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.
Simplicity Holidays evolved from owner Sandra Binns’ original family cleaning business and now incorporates additional services to support holiday home owners, their core client base.
Co-owner Jeff Plows spent more than 20 years employed as a quality engineering consultant in a number of diverse industries. When he was made redundant in October 2011 he decided to move to Filey and help run the cleaning business with Sandra.
The company was referred by Scarborough Job Centre to the Transformational Team at Scarborough Enterprise Match (SEM), a service delivered by the Leeds, York & North Yorkshire Chamber, which gave the business three days of intensive support from a business coach.
After receiving advice on marketing, including launching a new website and using search engine optimisation, and developing a growth strategy, the company grew its business by 331 per cent.
Sandra said she hoped 12 seasonal staff could become permanent as the business grows.
