A NEW café and bistro has been officially opened in North Yorkshire.
Charlie Barker, who is eight months old, turned up on a pony at his family’s flagship department store in Northallerton for the unveiling of the new 1882 Café & Bistro.
His father is professional showjumper Paul Barker, the great grandson of Barker’s founder William Barker.
The extended high street store has added an upstairs bistro to the ground-floor self-service café and increased in size from 60 to 110 covers. The floor space has almost doubled with 22 jobs created.
Charles Barker said: “We thought that if we were going to do this job, it would be nice to make it part of the main store.
“We’re thrilled with the result.”
