A NEW opticians store has opened in York.

The Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Keith Hyman tried out some of the latest frames at the opening ceremony of the new Specsavers which has opened on Front Street in Acomb, creating a number of new jobs.

He was joined by the Sheriff of York, coun Paul Firth, at the official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, which included bubbly and cake.
