BANKERS and lawyers swapped their suits for chef whites to raise money for local charities.

Staff from HSBC’s York branch and law firm Rollit’s York office competed to be voted the best dining team in a Devil’s Kitchen event, held at the Holiday Inn, Tadcaster Road.

The teams were judged by their guests on their waiting skills, attentiveness and the three-course meal that they prepared with the help of the catering staff at the Holiday Inn. They were also asked to make a donation for what they thought the meal and service were worth.

The HSBC team won the competition by less than one point and the event, organised by the Smile Foundation which helps to charities with fundraising and organisation issues, raised £6,160, which will be split between St Leonard’s Hospice, Martin House Children’s Hospice and the Smile Foundation.
