YORK’S newest hotel has been handed over to operators Hampton by Hilton.
The 119-bedroom hotel on Toft Green, developed by York Investors LLP, a joint venture company comprising Buccleuch Property and S Harrison Developments, has created about 50 jobs.
Kishor Majithia, managing director of Avantis Hotels Ltd, which operates the hotel under the Hampton Hotels brand, took the keys to the £10 million hotel from Ann Scott, managing director of S Harrison, at a ceremony outside the hotel.
Mr Majithia said he was excited about the prospects for York’s newest hotel.
“With occupancy rates in the city ranking the highest outside London, the city is among the most attractive in the country for business and leisure visitors. The Hampton Hotels brand is a household name in the US and is now rapidly expanding across Europe. I am confident that with the first class team I have in place here, we will quickly establish Hampton by Hilton York as the city’s leading hotel for value savvy guests.”
