ANNE Taylor runs web development agency See Green, based on Clifton Moor.

Working alongside husband Dan, and making up a team of seven, Anne has helped to drive the business forward since it was set up in 2008.

A former journalist, Anne joined the business to use her PR and marketing skills for clients, helping to develop robust digital strategies.

See Green's strapline is 'We do more than just websites' which is a sentiment that continues to ring true.

Anne said: "A website is a key marketing tool and I could see that some clients weren't making a site work as hard for them as they could.

"It's great to be able to help businesses to grow and evolve and it's so rewarding being a part of their success.

“The whole team love what we do, and we have fun along the way. We’re all geeks in our own ways and the skills that we have show in our work – from websites and marketing to intranets, CRMs and membership tools.

“We’re proud to offer a bespoke service using our own open-source content management system rather than one-size-fits-all solutions – digital presence should be as unique as every business is.

“I’m passionate about what we do as a professional service – of course you can make your own cheap and cheerful website, or get a friend’s son to help with your social media while he’s on his summer holidays, but you should treat your digital marketing with the same prominence as the rest of your business.”

As well as running a business, and bringing up Edith, four, and Abigail, eight, Anne is also the Chair of York Professionals – the membership organisation that promotes the city’s professional services sector and encourages York’s economic growth.

Anne has been the chair since September and recently hosted her first York Professionals Annual Dinner featuring BBC correspondent Kate Adie and former bmibaby MD David Bryon.

She said: “York Professionals is an important and well respected organisation. The Board and our members are committed to showcasing York as a great place to do business and highlight the professional services in the city.

“We’ve got more than 80 members, from one man bands to the likes of Hiscox and Aviva, and I’d love to break the 100 mark this year.”

What job would you like to have other than your own and why?

Naturally as a former journalist, I enjoy writing. Everyone thinks they have a book in them, but I'd love to have something published and enjoyed, even just as a legacy for my children to pass on. I absolutely love cooking and it'd be a dream to open a little cafe - maybe in the future!

Greatest achievement?

Balancing two children, a husband, a business and all of the other roles I've taken on - my husband Dan is super supportive but I've promised not to sign up to anything else for a while!

What makes you most angry?

Probably driving! I don't get road rage, but people can drive so recklessly and it can lead to tragedy so easily - it makes me cross seeing people taking stupid risks.

Biggest mistake?

There have been lots of mistakes over the years, but it's important to use them to grow - we're not on this planet for long and we can learn so much from our mistakes, no matter how big. My dad always told me: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger lass," and I think it's so true. But my recurring mistake is being too hard on myself and letting pressure work against me.

What do you need to make life complete?

I really have everything I need to make life complete with my husband and girls - but it'd be an added bonus to have a lovely old house with an allotment. In the future, life will be enriched watching the girls grow and have their own families.

Why do you make a difference?

I genuinely care - I try to go the extra mile in everything I do; if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing right, and I know I'm a perfectionist. I hope I bring a touch of Yorkshire humour and a bit of common sense thinking to people's lives, whether they're friends, family or clients.

Epitaph

From a poem read at my mum's funeral: "Farewell, Farewell my friends. I smile and bid you goodbye. No, shed no tears, for I need them not, all I need is your smile. If you feel sad think of me for that’s what I’d like. When you live in the hearts of those you love, remember then, you never die."
