Nick Neill is the director and owner of Ewemove York, the local franchise of an award winning estate and lettings agency.

Mr Neil started his career at First Direct Bank in Leeds and has drawn on the customer service ethos he learnt there throughout his career ever since.

A highlight of his time there includes representing First Direct at the House of Commons shortly after starting work there, to compete for and win, a UK wide Customer Service Award for the bank.

Mr Neil then went on to run a UK wide telephone based savings business for Scarborough Building Society, undertaking some strategy work and developing the marketing function, while keeping busy with two young children at home and also studying for his MBA.

Then, after spending eight years working in and around London and the South East, commuting while living in York to work as a sales director for a FTSE 100 firm and a commercial director for a US business based in the UK, Mr Neil decided to develop the Ewemove franchise in York. The move saw him take one of the first Ewemove franchises in the UK in early 2014.

Mr Neil believes his Ewemove franchise, with offices at Kensington House in York, is becoming more and more recognisable with the eye catching sheep ‘For Sale’ boards, as he’s helped hundreds of people to successfully sell their property and move on to their next home.

His team in York is growing, with his business partner Samantha Haskins and four associate directors now operating in all locations around York, surrounding villages and Tadcaster.

What job would you like to have other than your own and why?

"There are so many jobs I would love to do, but if I were to draw on my experiences to date it would definitely be to become an MP.

"I love the intensity of work and would relish the never ending work day of an MP, negotiating, debating and representing the needs of others.

"But, on the other hand, I really do regret not training to become an architect, but there’s still time for both I suppose."

Greatest achievement?

"While having two small children and a developing career I successfully studied for and was awarded my MBA through Edinburgh Business School."

What makes you most angry?

"A lack of tolerance and understanding for another’s point of view."

Biggest mistake?

"My wife and I selling our house in Harrogate!"

What do you need to make life complete?

"A nice plot of land to build my own house, which I have detailed plans for in my head – I just need to bring it to reality."

Why do you make a difference?

"I consistently aim to deliver more than people expect of me and I encourage them to do more than they expect of themselves."

Epitaph

"Smile, Laugh and be happy."
