WITH the premise that companies of all sizes and budgets should have access to the latest technologies and marketing strategies, Sally Trousdale set up Pick & Mix Marketing Solutions in 2011.

Her York-based marketing and PR company helps SMEs in Yorkshire and the Humber reach new audiences through marketing activities.

A social media and digital marketing specialist, Sally holds a digital diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing as well as a social media qualification. Before launching Pick & Mix Marketing Solutions, Sally headed up the classified advertising sales division at The York Press.

In the past four years, Sally has built up a strong portfolio of regular clients, including a local department store, a kitchen door manufacturing business and a farm shop, and worked with many more businesses to plan and implement one-off projects and launches.

Success has seen Sally move the company from a home office to premises in York and employ new members of staff to work alongside a team of expert freelancers.

Sally, who previously headed up the classified advertising sales division at The Press in York, has helped many individuals launch their businesses on social media and was recently chosen to help small and medium-sized businesses learn about the benefits of digital technologies as part of the Broadband East Riding’s Business Support Programme.

Regularly delivering presentations, workshops and training sessions to a variety of businesses in York and North Yorkshire, Sally thrives on helping business owners feel confident they can achieve their business goals.

Outside of work, Sally is a keen horsewoman and is qualified as a British Horse Society Assistant Instructor.

What job would you like to have other than your own and why?

"I would like to become the UK’s leading crisp taster as I love sinking my teeth into new challenges, rr basically, I have an addiction to crisps!"

Greatest achievement?

"Setting up Pick & Mix Marketing Solutions on my own, employing a team of people and supporting local freelance experts within four years. I love working alongside amazing clients and gaining the recognition for our work and successes is fantastic.

"On a more personal level, a great achievement was becoming a fully qualified horse riding instructor, with the satisfaction of knowing I can help beginners become fully competent horse riders."

What makes you most angry?

"People who complain about situations that are often in their control to change - hard work and drive can often lead you to achieve dreams and aspirations."

Biggest mistake?

"I’ve made lots of mistakes but every mistake is a learning exercise. I should have had the belief in my own ability earlier, which delayed employing my first team member."

What do you need to make life complete?

"Family, friends and good health…and perhaps a red rosette at the Great Yorkshire Show!"

Why do you make a difference?

"I deliver support to clients who often feel overwhelmed, faced with jargon or have been offered promises that are not delivered upon. For our clients, we make it simple, fun and we get the job done."

Epitaph

"Everything is possible; it’s about the journey not the destination."
