A FORMER coaching inn which started life as a boutique hotel 40 years ago is hoping to impress the judges in the Retail, Tourism and Leisure Business of the Year category.

Operating under its current owners since 2008, the Feversham Arms Hotel and Verbena Spa in Helmsley now boasts 33 individually designed bedrooms and suites.

Each one of the hotel’s 75 staff members are highly trained. In their first week of employment all employees – from front of house to housekeeping and restaurant staff – receive a compulsory one day staff induction which includes a briefing on the “Fev Culture” and values.

All team members have a thorough understanding of each department. While the porter and receptionists will give guests a personalised tour of the hotel and valet park their car, they also know the different treatments on offer in the Verbena Spa and the dining experience in the 2 AA Rosette restaurant, The Weathervane.

Bobby Polkey, marketing and sales executive at The Feversham, said: “With a history entrenched in our location, our Yorkshire hospitality is something we take huge pride in.”
