A COMPANY which has grown from a small, home-based office to employing more than 40 people marked a big night by winning the Large Business of the Year Award.
The title went to North Yorkshire portable cabins and modular buildings specialist Britcab, which was launched only eight years.
Director Andy Wilkinson said: “We started with three of us round a dining room table. We have built it up and we are very proud of that.”
He said it had been a really great evening which had been attended by “some fantastic people and companies”.
The judges said Britcab had developed by putting customers’ requirements first, was committed to developing the local workforce, and was a first-class example of a business with Yorkshire roots which was now demonstrating national reach.
It has two working depots and two satellite storage sites across the UK. The company initially dealt solely in second-hand portable cabins, but now builds a large number of cabins itself.
Britcab recently moved into an all-purpose 5.5-acre yard in Tholthorpe, which has helped it cope with an increasing demand for its products.
The appointment of the current general manager was described as a turning point for Soanes Poultry, which had a clear focus on being known as an employer of choice and a provider of quality produce.
The managing director of Monster Group was commended for her innovative approach and for driving forward its business growth.
