KEEPING an eye on corporate ethics is the focus for a company which is bidding for glory in the Press Business Awards.

It is no surprise then that Bright Ethics (UK) Limited has entered the Socially Responsible Business of the Year category of our awards.

Director Bethan Vincent describes it “as an ambitious and dynamic company which delivers independent ethical accreditation to UK organisations in both the public and private sectors”.

The present company was started in 2014 in response to the growing consumer desire for organisations to act in a trustworthy and ethical manner.

She says: “Whilst the ethical economy has grown massively there is no clear way for consumers to tell which companies actually deliver on their promises, as opposed to those just using greenwashing to boost sales.

“We want to be the trusted signifier of an ethical organisation for both businesses and consumers, helping to reward those who act ethically with higher sales, strengthened reputation, better PR and support from a network of like-minded businesses.

“ Our mission is twofold; firstly, we want to help organisations develop ethical policies and practices which are robust, recognisable and commercially viable.

“Secondly, we want to champion the ethical values of the general public by acting as a discussion platform for both consumer and company. This means our ethical standards will stay consistently relevant to the values and behaviours consumers wish organisations to demonstrate.”

To gain Bright Ethics accreditation organisations must meet a basic standard using a minimum set of ethical criteria, then self-select a certain number of ethical practices so their accreditation can be specifically tailored.
