A LEISURE company which is reaching out to York people whose needs “are not being met by most mainstream providers” is bidding to win the Socially Responsible Business title at The Press Business Awards.

Energi Trampoline Park, at York Business Park, said it had invested in the services of Social Vision to support its ethical and corporate social responsibility ambitions.

“The owners are two local lads from Acomb and South Bank, and recognised that, whilst York is generally an affluent city, there any many individuals in our communities with individual needs which are not being met by most mainstream providers in York.

“To date we have worked with and/or supported local organisations that work with children with additional needs, adults with additional needs, children who are full-time carers, children who are unable to engage with mainstream education, low-income families, bereaved children who have lost a parent or sibling, adults who volunteer with troubled young people, children in care.

“We also work closely with the families of armed forces and those providing essential public services such as NHS staff, police and fire services; as well as York City FC Foundation.

“Our Friday night teen disco has been commended by local MPs as a genuine, innovative and effective way to divert young people from the streets.

“We pride ourselves on service user consultation, and our Friendly sessions were designed after consulting the families of 90 children in York with additional needs.”

The entry said Energi was working with many schools across York and was keen to get young people active, regardless of ability. It had recently contributed to the Taking Play Forward policy document published by City of York Council.
