SETTING out its stall in style is a York hairdressing salon with designs on two titles at The Press Business Awards.

Evolve Hairdressing, in Bishopthorpe Road, has entered the Small Business and Achievement Through People categories, saying the venture “is more than just a hair salon, it is more a hair sanctuary”.

It said: “From the welcome greeting, the attentive service of the reception staff to the knowledgeable, reliable hair care received from the stylists, the salon’s holistic approach enables the clients to feel renewed as they leave the salon.”

Adding that Evolve was renowned one of the city’s leading salons, with a loyal clientele and a fantastic reputation for more than two decades, it said: “Why? Because we have the best salon team in the business, full of passionate, outstandingly talented and fun-loving individuals who work together in perfect harmony to ensure that every customer who walks through our doors is treated like an A-lister and provided with first-class treatment.”

Linzi Gill had more than 30 years’ experience in the hairdressing industry and had trained extensively with Wella Academies both in the UK and abroad.

Apprentices and new staff members received weekly in-house training and Evolve also provided staff with a minimum of six training sessions a year “to ensure all the team have a fantastic product knowledge and the ability to analyse the client’s hair” to provide the best advice.

The team also used innovative technology, such as iPad consultations, and the latest in hair care. Evolve recently won the Salon Genius Salon of the Year award and has been shortlisted for Salon of the Year at the Hairdressers Journal International’s British Hairdressing Business Awards.
