VYING for the treasured title of Business Personality of the Year, Andrea Ubhi hopes her “visionary team culture” and commitment to charity work will be enough to make the cut.

Owner of Andrea Ubhi Cosmetic Dentistry, Ms Ubhi is well recognised within her field, having been voted Top Female Private Dentist 2013 in a prestigious poll in the industry.

Awarded Dentist of the Year North in 2013, her practice has enjoyed a particularly successful financial year with profit up 90 per cent and plans to increase the number of staff from 13 to 20 in an upcoming expansion.

What really sets Ms Ubhi apart though is her hands-on involvement with charity work around the world, having visited Nepal and India to work with rescued sex-trafficking victims.

In 2014, she travelled to Kathmandu to provide dental check-ups and training for staff at Asha Nepal, to which the practice donates 15 per cent of their total profits.

Back in the UK, she says she strongly believes in helping the next generation of dentists, organising work experience for potential dental undergraduates and providing free tutoring for dental school interviews.

Colleague Dr Adam Glassford, cosmetic and implant dental surgeon, had nothing but praise for Ms Ubhi saying she was an outstanding leader and had a straight talking no-nonsense attitude.

He said: “I have seen her go through difficult times with professionalism and dignity, she is a great example of leadership. She is positive and this exudes to the team.

“We are more successful as a practice now, than ever. The team spirit is great, the clinical work is of an exceptionally high standard, and the patient satisfaction rate is very high, and although it is the team that creates this, it is Andrea’s leadership that has developed it.”
