THE curtains have gone up on a former actor's new venture as he uses his stage skills to help business communications.

Dominic Colenso has launched In Flow Training from the Ron Cooke Hub, at the University of York, passing on his skills to help others develop a "professional performance" in not only public speaking, but management skills and general communications.

Entering the New Business of the Year category, In Flow has already secured a contract to provide training to an international payments company with more than 700 employees, while delivering programmes in the UK, Germany, Austria and Bulgaria.

Closer to home, running a ‘taster’ session in conjunction with York Science Park has now lead to bookings for individual executive coaching sessions, as well as a subsequent session for SMEs as part of the Science Park's business support programme.

The company is also working with the University of York, NHS England and is offering training sessions for accountants in conjunction with the ACCA.

Mr Colenso said: "After years spent in front of the camera, working alongside award-winning actors, I began working ‘behind the scenes’ directing and teaching, which allowed me to pass on my skills, and help others to improve their own performances.

"It quickly became clear I wanted to help not only other actors, but a wide range of people to communicate clearly and effectively, and unlock their potential.

"It was from this idea that In Flow Training was born, with the belief that the best communicators are grown, and not born, and the aim of helping people find their ‘flow’."
