A COUPLE faced with redundancy three years ago is now operating a Yorkshire wide network of specialist table top sales attracting up to 420 people at each event.

Table Tots is the brainchild of Andy and Jude Hudson-Gill, who have entered the venture, based out of Thorpe Willoughby near Selby, for the Small Business of the Year title in the Press Business Awards.

The couple's sales specialise in second hand children's and family items, covering anything from maternity wear to age 10, with families invited to hire tables to sale their surplus items.

Table Tots now operates from 28 venues across Yorkshire, from Catterick to Sheffield, and across to Hull and Brighouse, with more in-between.

There are more than 50 tables at each event, with around 48 events held each year from February to December.

Mrs Hudson-Gill said: "We have taken these sales to a level no one else has achieved, with summer sales on the cards too and a trip to the coastal areas will see holiday makers joining us.

"We have fun in the queue, where shoppers queue up for 30 to 40 minutes at our sales, with pass the parcel and spot prizes, bubbles for little ones and pressies for the first bump through the door.

"We love our business and enjoy our sales, no two sales are alike and it shows.

"We are seeing customer footfall from 200 to 420, which we know is impressive compared to smaller fairs.

"Our success is in our marketing, being at the forefront on social media to get our brand out there and reach young mums and families online. We quickly outgrew small venues and regularly fill four to six badminton court sized indoor sports halls."
