A FLOOR retailer has attributed the year on year growth the business has enjoyed since its formation in 2008 to "honest and genuine quality customer service".

Style Flooring of York, in Heworth, which is vying to be crowned Retailer of the Year, has a team of five, which has been with the business from the start, as well as providing work for six sub-contracted fitters.

Owner Martin Couchie said: "We feel it’s the little things that make a big difference.

"Encouraging customers to take home flooring samples to see it in their room lighting and décor, happily exchanging them without question until they are 100 per cent happy and confident with the choice they make.

"Early morning, evenings and weekend measuring service to fit in with customer’s commitments, carrying samples and tins to cars, advice on solutions to fit within a budget.

"The testimonials we receive time and time again give us a sense of pride, motivating us to continue to maintain the highest level of service and improve even further."

Listening to customers discussing their new décor when choosing new flooring prompted the business to introduce Farrow & Ball paints and wallpapers two years ago.

Subsequent sales growth led to the recent investment in becoming the only approved stockist of Little Greene paint & wallpapers in York and Yorkshire‘s only approved stockist of Mylands of London.
