CHAPEL House Training and Consultancy has been training and mentoring business leaders not just in York but across the globe.

The business was founded in 2009 by retired police officer David Collins, who identified the market for coaching, leadership training and development outside of the UK.

Mr Collins initially joined a UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) trade mission to the Gulf, where it became clear that his development programmes were much in demand.

As well as developing the business abroad Chapel House has built a relationship with the University of York.

More recently, Chapel House has started to support York University overseas, particularly within the Gulf region.

The business introduced the University to the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) and this has led to a strategic alliance being formed with the aim of running an Executive Development programme for Bahraini's in York.

The first programme is being delivered in York in October this year and it is hoped that it will become an annual event.

Plans are now afoot to expand this programme to organisations in the UAE and Qatar.

In light of its work with both the University and overseas customers Chapel House Training is entering both the Dare to Export Award and the Best Business and Higher Education Link Award.

The recent growth in the business, purely because of the work overseas, has enabled Chapel House to take on two further members of staff. Growth is projected to treble in the next year after recently winning a three year contract with the Government sponsored Tamkeen in Bahrain.

The company has also worked with clients in New Deli, Hydrabad, South Africa, Nigeria, Qatar and Bosnia.
