BEING named Caravan Park of the Year 2014 by Visit York has given Cawood Park a taste of award success.

The business, which employs a team of 12 staff, has entered Tourism and Hospitality Business of the Year and Family Business of the Year in the Press Business Awards.

Owner Andrew Pringle said: "Quite simple it is our intention to offer the best facilities available to those seeking to own their own holiday home in the North Yorkshire area and to those visiting in their touring caravans.

"Attention to detail is a must regarding cleanliness, and a warm welcome and value for money."

In response to customer feedback last year the park updated its showers and cubicles, installed a children's play area, and in February this year opened its own cafe and restaurant Mrs B’s Lakeside Kitchen.

Since 2008 there has been more than £2.5 million invested in the park. Planning permission gained for change of use from a touring park to static holiday homes meant a whole new layout, new infrastructure including all utility supplies, new electricity and mains drains.

The installation of 65 holiday home pitches overlooking a fishing lake, plus 28 “super touring” pitches, which are fully hard-standing with all weather surface has made all year use feasible.
