A HUSBAND and wife duo are vying for the Technology Business of the Year crown with their venture TouchRight Software.

Terry and Rachel Lightfoot created a web and mobile app designed to help letting agents produce property reports.

The Wheldrake-based couple came up with the concept having owned their own property services business, and knowing the challenges faced by busy agents to produce high quality, detailed reports for their landlords.

Mr Lightfoot said: "We knew many agents were using clipboards, tick sheets and cameras to create reports detailing the property condition for the landlord.

"Valuable office hours were being lost through traditional industry practices.

"We researched and tested the various software offerings available, and could see the shortcomings with these systems.

"By combining our unique skills and 40 years experience in software, property and marketing we knew we could create a better software solution."

TouchRight Software is targeting the Private Rented Sector through letting agents, however Mr and Mrs Lightfoot believe there is wider application in the social housing market as local housing authorities are using private rental properties to fulfill the shortfall in available council properties.

Mr Lightfoot added: "We've had interest from US agents and there is a huge opportunity for this solution overseas in countries where they have a high percentage of rental properties, including Europe and Australasia, which we would look exploit in future years."
