Simply Devine specialist hat shop inTadcaster is this year celebrating ten years in business.

In its anniversary year the venture is vying for two titles in the Press Business Awards; Retailer of the Year and Small Business of the Year.

Simply Devine was set up in February 2004 by Liz Devine-Wright and her mother Joy.

By 2006 they had expanded into online selling, sending hats and accessories worldwide, before adding Pashmina by Simply Devine to the business, selling cashmere sourced in Nepal both in-house and to boutiques around the world.

Following Joy's retirement in 2011 the shop now also offers a mother of the bride/groom boutique to match the hat and fascinator business.

Ms Devine-Wright said: "Core clients are customers who regularly attend weddings and international race meetings, and who want to stand out from the crowd.

"The business has grown year on year, with a slight blip due to the recession and following the partnership buy out, Simply Devine continues to be a cash and asset rich business with a committed long term strategy not to borrow money and to grow organically."

The Simply Devine building is personally owned by Ms Devine-Wright, and has scope to expand the business, either up into the flat above, or externally on the ground floor.

Ms Devine-Wright added: "Ladies travel up to 300 miles one way to visit this destination and specialist store, where specialist knowledge is key.

"English millinery is key to the business and the buy British campaign our focus.

"Networking, online and E-commerce are key to marketing and we obtain up to 80,000 hits per month generated from our main website."
