STRAIGHT out of school, and with mission to revolutionise the health food market "one salad at a time" Joe Carnell created UGOT.

Now the business has a team of ten staff and is eight months in to trading from a new site a York Station, with plans to open a second outlet at Newcastle Station in coming weeks.

With UGOT vying for New Business of the Year, and 21-year-old Mr Carnell standing as Young Entrepreneur of the Year, the business is hoping for its first award success.

Targeting a market of 18 to 30-year-olds, UGOT was created as part of Mr Carnell's bid to explore the synergy between food, music and fashion, while making full use of a new marketing age focused around social media.

Selling around 200 cold press juices a week, UGOT creates all its products fresh from a head office and kitchen in Wetherby.

Mr Carnell said: "We are able to differentiate ourselves with a locally sourced range which will be heavily incorporated in the brand's ethos and image from site to social media level; a uniqueness which will appeal to a increasingly health conscious market."

UGOT is funding local growing patches across the city, the produce from which will be sold in UGOT's stores.

Mr Carnell is also about to launch UGOT's 'On The Right Track' station sessions bringing live, local music to York train station, while also working with the Food For Life Partnership to develop education techniques to encourage children from a young age to eat healthy food.

Mr Carnell added: "We are also looking to inspire secondary school children to be entrepreneurial themselves. I am looking to teach children valuable enterprising skills and educate them on the trials and decisions I have had to make over the last year."
