Small, but packing a ‘‘mighty punch’’, Red Publications is committed to great customer service, creativity and a passion for exceeding clients' expectations.

Red's director Andy Douse is a former journalist and launched the internal communications and design company six years ago, initially working at home in Strensall.

While his philosophy is that size does not matter, Red outgrew this space in 2009 and moved to York's Eco Business Centre.

Now he has high hopes of success in the Small Business of the Year category at The Press Business Awards 2013.

Red develops, writes and designs employee magazines, newsletters and newspapers. Clients span a wide range of sectors from public services and charitable organisations to finance, utilities and pharmaceuticals. But whoever they are and whatever their size, Andy and his staff make sure they get to know them inside out and are proud to be regarded as a valued extension of their team.

Until last year, Andy was Red's sole employee, pulling together the expertise and experience of a virtual team and supply partners when needed.

However, with the growing demand on Red's services, Andy appointed two designers and a consultant and writer to join his core workforce, quadrupling its size and adding a further dimension to Red's services, which has helped the agency to step up a gear.

At Red, customer service and satisfaction is paramount.

Andy said: ‘‘For every project, we send our clients a feedback form, providing them with an opportunity to comment on the standard of our work. We use this feedback to focus on areas of improvement, and also to motivate the team.''
