Bach St John Passion, The Choir and Orchestra of St Olave’s Church, York, St Peter’s School Chapel, March 6 THE Choir and Orchestra of St Olave’s took on the first of Bach’s remaining Passions, the St John. While shorter than the Matthew Passion, it still remains a challenge for any musicians.
QUATUOR Diotima have become a regular fixture on York’s musical calendar. On Wednesday night they brought their understated, light style to a programme of Schubert, Dutilleux and Beethoven.

THE Sixteen were back at the York Early Music Festival on Wednesday night, filling York Minster with the sounds of 16th-century Spain. This was a highly honed programmed – music from Seville by Alonso Lobo and Francisco Guerrero – creating both its strengths and its weaknesses.
The Chapter House Choir was joined by the Railway Institute Brass Band in York Minster last Friday for their annual carol concert.
