Climate crisis: it’s time to act

IF YOUR bedtime reading choices say as much about you as your iTunes downloads – and we all know how important they are, because Top People like Barak Obama and, um, Gordon Brown, have shared their playlists (fyi, their faves are Jay-Z and Arctic Monkeys respectively) – then I’ve become a bit of a radical.

Zombies flood the south coast

The news about the zombie apocalypse in Brighton and Hove has not, I feel, been given the attention it deserves. You’d have thought that real live – well, undead – zombies lurching through the streets on the south coast would have caused a bit of a stir.

Getting back into the saddle

THIS is totally the wrong time to be bike-less. Well, the wrong time in Yorkshire anyway, given the Tour de France frenzy. You can’t open this newspaper without seeing pictures of people doing wacky or ambitious things by bike. Actually, I’ve been in one of them, but more of that later.

There has to be a far better way

WHAT’S the best way to engage a community? Proposing to chop down trees is a good bet. Planning applications for wind turbines are a no-brainer. Or you can introduce traffic restrictions that prioritise public transport – and bingo, job done.

Smog problem won’t go away

SOUTH east finally wiped clean by the wrath of God turns out to be one of the less alarmist headlines I’ve come across this week on the high levels of air pollution. And not just because it came from The Daily Mash, which does a fine job of parodying popular print journalism.
