BROMLEY Council has received £90,000 to develop a mobile computer training project.
The cash injection from the Learning and Skills Council will equip a vehicle with the latest hardware and software, providing free training sessions for adults in Penge, Anerley, the Crays, Mottingham and Biggin Hill.
The new service is targeted at people who have never used a computer but would like to learn the basics , including use of e-mail and the internet.
The funding will ensure the vehicle can be used in community venues throughout the borough for two years. It will be in a different location each day of the week.
The investment forms part of Bromley's Lifelong Partnership strategy to support wider regeneration and community development initiatives.
Chairman of Bromley's education committee Councillor Brian Humprys said: “This project will bring IT training to the doorsteps of people who cannot easily access training in its traditional forms.”
