Bromley's hockey camp

11:11am Wednesday 15th August 2001

Bromley Hockey Club, in conjunction with the Borough of Bromley, will be running a Summer Camp from Tuesday, August 28 to Friday, August 31 inclusive.

It will provide high quality coaching for all players from aged 7-17 irrespective of standard, though players will be grouped and coached according to ability. Olympic and other celebrity coaches will be in attendance.

All interested will be welcome, from beginners to advanced players already in training for next season.

Sessions will run from 9.30am-3pm daily at Bromley High School, in Blackbrook Lane. It costs £50 for the four-day course.

Also on offer at Bromley High School, is a short course leading to the Preliminary Umpires' Award. It takes place from August 28-30 inclusive from 3.15pm-4.15pm daily and anyone from 14 upwards can apply.

It is particularly suitable for students, teachers and club players, costs £20, and is the first step towards becoming a fully qualified umpire.

For those interested in becoming qualified coaches, a Level One Course approved by the English Hockey Association will take place at Ravensbourne School on Friday, August 31, from 7.30pm-9.30pm. continuing on September 2 and 9 from 9.30 4.30 p.m.

It is open to anyone aged 16 and over and costs £80.

Bromley has a comprehensive Summer Camp package which offers for anyone between the ages of 16-18 who wishes to take all three courses.

Instead of the total of £150 for all three courses, the fee will be only £99. Opportunities like this are rare, and school students will know that such qualifications are excellent for CVs and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

Places will be limited so, you are advised to enrol as soon as posible. For application forms and more details of all courses, call Sheena Pitchford on 020 8461 7509, Chris Swan on 01892 863631 or Jeff Hynds on 01959 572193. Alternatively, email: sheena.pitchford@bromley.gov.uk
