Londoners encouraged to escape the Olympics and head for Yorkshire

HALF a million leaflets are to be pushed through letter boxes in the capital in a bid to persuade Londoners to escape the city’s hustle and bustle during the Olympics and head for Yorkshire.

Welcome to Yorkshire has teamed up with York-based train operator East Coast to make sure the broad acres are front of mind for people considering leaving London during the Games.

The leaflet tells Londoners they can “relax and enjoy all the action and the atmosphere of the 2012 Games in Yorkshire”.

The organisation suggests people going to Olympic events can base themselves in Yorkshire where it is “cheaper and better” and then jump on an East Coast train to London to catch events they have a ticket for.
