Slur on our name

I MUST object in the strongest terms to Hugo Bieber's attempt to sully the name of York Palestine Solidarity Campaign (Letters, March 19).

York PSC did not send any communications out to its members asking them to attend the ceremony at Clifford's Tower to commemorate the massacre of Jews in 1190, and there was no mention of it on our website or newsletter. To the best of my knowledge only one of our members was present.

I, like most citizens of York and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, find anti-Semitism abhorrent and the events at Clifford's Tower in 1190 to be one of the blackest moments in the history of this city.

Because I wasn't there, I cannot comment on any alleged events which took place at Clifford's Tower. But whatever did take place was the action of individuals and nothing to do with York PSC.
