AN all-roach haul landed the Ouse Championship for West Yorkshire-based angler Dave Pollitt.

The Mirfield Willy Worms-backed angler’s catch totalled 11lb and two ounces from near the pipe hole on the Poppleton stretch of the river.

In second place was Leeds rod-man Ricky Gaunt, who tallied 8lb-10oz with a barbel at the first peg out of the rough field.

That just pipped Aireborough’s Keith Mottram (8-4) who had to settle for third position.

Meanwhile, Shepherd’s Angling Club fished a gust-lashed Paradise Farm on the River Derwent.

Although the river looked in good condition, the very strong upstream wind proved a hindrance and fish were few and far between.

The winner was John Sturdy, who was drawn on the bend in the second field after the wood.

He fished with maggot on waggler and feeder landing a couple of 3lb chub and a few dace in his catch of 7-1.

Second was Pete Mills with a chub and a few roach and dace to total 3-8, while third place went to Doc Findlay with a mixed bag weighing 1-7oz.
