HEWORTH ‘A’ crashed to their first defeat of the York Conservative Clubs’ Carlsberg UK Snooker League season losing 5-2 to Acomb ‘B’.

There was a first reverse of the campaign for Jordan Worobec, defeated by Acomb’s Steve Rodgers, and Clive Whyte (26 break), who fell to Adam Wade, who had breaks of 25 and 32 in his win.

The only winners for Heworth were Nick Dyson and James Kilmartin (35 break), with Acomb’s John Winter, Kevin Ventress and Andy Stone successful in a surprise victory.

With Acomb ‘A’ and Malton not playing, it paved the way for Fulford ‘A’ to go top of the league as they ran out 5-2 winners against Heworth ‘B’.

Andy Marshall (25 break) led the way by defeating Paul Walker, but Heworth hit back with Peter Rivis beating Tom Lewis.

However, Fulford gained control with victories for Jim Lee and Dollin Mercer over Simon Whitley and Andy Ireland.

Martin Johnson, with a 24 break, hit back as Jamie Husband lost his first match of the season.

Simon England had a hard-fought match against Ian Strickland but hit two good pots on pink and black to secure victory.

It was left to Sam Wass to continue his unbeaten run by defeating Steve Kelsey in the last match to put Fulford on top.

The final match saw Bootham ‘B’ defeat their ‘A’ team 6-1, despite losing the first game, Mark Darley with a 20 break beating Ian Robinson.

From then on it was all one way with wins for Andy Proud, Matt Smith, Lionel Barnes, Paul Powell, Paul Mahoney and Paul Scorfield.

Scorfield was 21 behind Tim Fillingham with all the colours left, but he potted all of them with a 27 break to clinch a good victory for Bootham ‘B’.
